Lazy Day

The Hawleys had their first annual lazy day yesterday and we liked it so much we repeated it today!! As those of you who know us know...we (mostly Adam) cannot sit still for very long but that is exactly what we did....we were a family in pyjamas at 4pm! It was great! Ollie and Emma seemed to thrive...here are some pics from the day....Now not all of us were being lazy!! Emma decided that despite the declaration of lazy day she was going to roll from her tummy to her back!! She decided to do this while Dad was attempting to moisurize her back after her bath and since she's not a big fan of tummy time and Dad was taking too long..she decided to take matters into her own hands and get back onto her back where she is much more comfortable. As you can see, Ollie too was not completely lazy as he "helped" mum make some banana "muffoos" (muffins)...he also helped with all the dishes at the end as well!!
Anyway..the countdown continues...5 days until we are on the "up high" and off to see "Nanny Carol" and "Hannah Ucie".
See you all soon!!

Addendum

Well what a day we had yesterday!! We had a lovely day at home...everything was going swimmingly (or so we thought). Everyone was feeling better we even managed to have some breakfast and lunch!! (The first time in three days!). We had plans to go out for pizza as a special treat for Ollie and Daddy (who had been craving pizza since taking ill) and we had to get out of the house for a viewing at 5pm. All was going well with Emma getting up at 3:30pm she had time to be breastfed and changed and she was ready to go by the time Ollie woke up from his nap at 4:00pm....We got Ollie dressed and Dad proceeded to vacuum the basement which he had been meaning to do all day.....at approximately 4:30pm...I was holding Ollie about to get him dressed when he started to cough...no sooner had he done that then he started to gag..and guess what....he proceeded to vomit....it was one of those moments...i couldn't decide which was the lesser of two evils. My immediate reaction was to tip him into me so that he would vomit on me instead of the cream coloured carpet...but then my medical mind suggested that perhaps the chance of Ollie aspirating some of the emesis into his lungs would really be the worse scenario...then I thought run down the hallway to the bathroom but then I risked the chance of him continuing to vomit all the way down the hallway...so, do I just stay put and at least have a concentrated area of mess...well we managed to make it to the bathroom where I dumped ollie in the empty bathtub...ran downstairs to tell Dad that vacuuming of the basement was now low on the priority list...so, while Ollie had his second bath of the day Mum proceeded to clean up the mess in the bathroom sink and floor while Dad attempted to clean up the dried cranberry vomitus in the middle of Ollie's bedroom floor!! And a stellar job he did I must say!! Mum greeted the Real estate agent at the door looking slightly haggard with mop in hand telling him of the crisis and that we would be vacating the premesis in minutes. We then had the tough decision of possibly losing the sale of the house by opening all the windows to lose the vomit scent at risk of the people thinking there is some fault with the heating system or do we leave all the windows closed conserving heat but losing the sale due to a strong stench of vomitus?? We opted for the former! Thank you to Donna Appavoo who bought Ollie his sheepskin rug for a shower gift...only a mother would think of something so ingenious since this then managed to completely cover the wet spot leftover from the clean up efforts!!
In the end....it seems we have not sold the house but it was not due to the stench of vomit nor due to the cool temperature on the upper floor. In fact, the real estate agent called us and told us that the couple couldn't believe how lovely the house was, both the women who came to see the house were interior designers or had interest in interior design and they both said they wouldn't have done a thing different. They said to the real estate agent.."you will have no problem selling this house!!" so, all in all...good news despite the fact that we still live at 160 Quebec Street!
Anyway folks...as you can see never a dull moment at the Hawley-Halligan residence!!
Congratulations by the way to our friends Kristi, Pete and Noah Havens who called us yesterday to let us know that we can stop praying for the baby in Kristi's tummy as Kristi has had Olivia!! Both Mum and Baby are safe and sound at home!!
Take care...and stay well...we're going to try our best!!

Recent Events

Hello folks sorry it has been a while!! What a busy time we've had!!
Emma is now 10 weeks old!! How fast time flies! She has a lovely little personality! She is forever smiling. Since I have taken to waking her every three hours in the day for feeding I will often go in and unswaddle her and turn the light on and chat to her...I will then go back in five mins or so whereupon she breaks into a full body smile!! It's like she can't contain herself her whole face creases up and her legs are kicking and her hands are flailing! Now that being said. I took her for her first injections the other week and a check up and I was telling them all about what a smiler she is and how we never really see her upset! Of course, she screamed her face off the whole time we were in there! She only stopped when she was given her needles. I say it was just fear of the unknown and then when she got the injection she knew then it wasn't worth fretting about. However, she has proven me wrong again. When I took Ollie to his school for the saturday morning playgroup (which incidentally he got to meet the "cookie monster" there) she cried there too, so I'm not sure if maybe she is a bit shy! We'll see in a few days when we get to England and she meets the many folk there that are anxious to meet her. She too has proven to take after her father....since finding her fists she has become a non-stop chatterbox! I figure she's starting early so that she has a chance of getting a word in edgewise with her brother. Again, she has discovered her fists and whenever possible she jams them in there....I think when she figures it out, she'll be a thumbsucker...however, when she tries to suck on one or two fingers now..she ends up gagging herself. I am surprised that I have been able to get any pics without her fists in the way!
Ollie has had an eventful couple of weeks!! While Dad was going to work, Ollie would go to daycare in the morning which he really enjoys. Unfortunately, being stuck inside with a pile of kids is breeding ground for bugs. So, Ollie picked up a cold which he shared with Mum and Dad and then when we were just over that.....he came home barfing!! Mum was in Cambridge with Emma the day it started so Dad was "dealing" with the little man. Shortly thereafter, Dad became nauseated and the next night Mum spent every hour on the hour crouched over the toilet!! Fortunately Emma has shown no signs of the infection!! Now, this is bad enough however, it couldn't have happened at a worse time. We have told the community here that we are moving so, we have put the house on the market. Of c ourse, we still have lots to do to get the house up to snuff....so, the day that we became unwell..was of course the day we were showing the house....so, there was dad wearing two jackets, two scarves and a hat in the basement while cleaning it out feeling very poorly, while mum was vacuuming having to take toilet breaks!! With approx. 3mins to spare we managed to get the house into decent enough shape!!
Ollie is continuing to develop his language skills!! He will often hide on us and say, "Ollie where are you" then when he presents himself to us he says, "there you are". We keep telling him that he is about to go on a big "up high" which is how he refers to airplanes...we are NOT putting him in daycare now until we leave....we don't want even an 8 hour repeat performance of the 36 hour journey from hell to new zealand last year! Hopefully Emma will prove to be as portable as her big brother.
In other big news....Ollie andEmma have become big cousins!! They have a new cousin Hannah Lucy or as Ollie refers to her "Hannah Sucie"..whom we are really looking forward to meeting. Ollie has a few tips for Noah on how to be a big brother since he's never been a big brother before!
Right...I will include a few photos now! We are looking forward to seeing everyone! See you soon!!
